As an HA (like the “A” candidate) we are looking for the candidate to talk to us “trainer to trainer”. They should show the confidence and authority of a trainer during the HA while discussing the particular sections being tested. They should longe at the “A” level and be able to competently longe an unfamiliar mount. The successful HA is a teacher and able to build a lesson plan as well as safely and effectively teach group lessons.

In the past candidates have done “ride along's” with equine vets, spent time with farriers, vet tech's and equine dentists and have audited teaching clinics to gain experience and knowledge.

New in 2009 is Land Conservation. The HA candidate needs to discuss with the examiner what they have done in their area to promote land conservation. Read more under the Land Conservation Section you will find here.
